Permanent lighting is different — it can be fitted outside the season, weather permitting.

It is the wet rather than the cold. December here averages a high near 52°F and a low near 34°F, and winter is the wettest part of the year, so a display gets soaked, freezes overnight and thaws again by afternoon for weeks. That cycle works cheap clips loose and finds any connection that was not properly sealed. We use commercial-grade product, fix to the real edge of the roof, and service the run in season.

Yes, and carefully. Twickenham is the largest antebellum district in Alabama, so the run has to work with cornices, deep eaves, and metal or slate roofing that no standard clip will grip — and it has to be invisible in daylight, not merely tidy. We fix to the fascia line, never through roofing material, and we ask for any district or association rules before designing rather than after.

Regularly, and it is a different job from a valley lot. The mountain is wooded and steep, the roof is often broken up by additions, and the house is read from the valley as well as from its own street — so the roofline outline carries most of the effect. Access decides the day up there, and the mountain holds weather longer than the valley does, so fixings are chosen to still be holding in January.

Yes. Athens is out along 72 and well inside our range, along with the Limestone County addresses around it. It runs to older housing close to the square and newer subdivision growth on the edges, so the recommendation there depends more than usual on which street you are on.

In practice, yes. Madison and the Providence and Clift Farm side of the metro are almost entirely modern housing — straight fascia, sound seamless gutter, two-storey fronts — which is the easiest stock anywhere for a permanent track and the least sensible to be climbing annually. It is quicker work than an older in-town house, and it is usually where permanent lighting makes the clearest financial sense.

In-season service is part of a seasonal install here, not an add-on. Being based close in rather than out on the parkway puts most of the metro within a short drive, whether that is Madison to the west or Hampton Cove through the tunnel. Both are permanent tracks fitted under the roofline and controlled from an app with a very large colour range. They use different fixtures and control systems, so which one we would fit depends on your fascia profile, drip edge and gutter type, and on the look you are after. We bring both to the consult and say which suits the house rather than which we would rather sell.

No. Clips are matched to your specific edge — shingle, gutter or fascia — and nothing is nailed, stapled or screwed through roofing material. A permanent track fastens along the fascia or drip edge, the same surface your gutters already hang from. On the metal and slate roofs in the older districts we work off the fascia line entirely.

Yes. Removal after the holidays and storage until the next season are part of a seasonal package, so nothing lives in your garage and nothing gets crushed between years. When you rebook, the same set comes back out and the install runs faster because your measurements are already on file.

It depends on linear footage, roof height and access, and which product you choose, which is why we measure before quoting rather than after. The design consult and the quote are both free, and the quote is the number, not an opening position. If something on site would change it, you hear that at the consult rather than on the invoice.
