Monte Sano rises about a thousand feet above the Tennessee Valley floor on Huntsville's east side, to 1,654 feet at the top, and its name means "mountain of health." In the 1880s it was a resort, with the Hotel Monte Sano drawing visitors up for the air until it closed after its last season in 1900. Today the state park takes up the eastern part of the mountain, the nature preserve covers much of the western slope, and a residential neighborhood sits on the western top: a mix of older mountain homes and newer builds on large, wooded lots along winding roads.
That setting changes what a good display looks like. A lit roofline on Monte Sano is seen from the valley as much as from the street, so a clean, continuous outline matters more than density, and a permanent track shows it off every night of the year rather than five weeks in December. Under heavy tree cover, a seasonal display planned around what can actually be seen is often the better choice, and we will tell you which one suits your house.
What a Monte Sano install actually takes
Terrain, trees and weather. Lots are wooded and often steep, so where a ladder or a lift can stand is settled on the site visit, and branch clearance over the roofline gets checked before we decide where a run sits. The top of the mountain sees more wind than the valley floor, so fixings are spaced for the exposure, and installs here need dry days and daylight more than anywhere else we work, which is why mountain dates are the first to go each season.
Driveways and access roads on the mountain can be narrow and winding, so we plan how the crew and equipment reach the house as part of the quote rather than finding out on the day. We fix to the fascia and trim, never through roofing, and on a house with stone or timber detail we design around it rather than into it.

Christmas and seasonal light installation on Monte Sano
Seasonal lighting is a full service, not a box of lights from a shelf. We design the display around your roofline, install commercial-grade product cut to fit your house, and service it through the season if anything goes dark. After the holidays we take it down and store it until next year, so nothing lives in your garage and nothing gets crushed between seasons.
Booking order decides the calendar. Installs run in the order they are booked, so the earliest dates go to whoever called first. If you want the lights on before the first weekend of December, get on the list well before the season starts.
Permanent outdoor lighting on Monte Sano
Permanent lighting is a slim track fixed under the roofline that stays up all year and reads as trim from the street. Run warm white on an ordinary evening, color through December, orange and white for a Saturday in autumn, or switch it off entirely. It is all controlled from an app, so nobody climbs anything.
We install two systems. JellyFish is the one most people have heard of and we are an authorized dealer. Bosso is an alternative with its own fixture and control system that suits some rooflines better. We bring both to the consult and tell you which fits your house, including when that is the cheaper option.
Commercial and HOA lighting on Monte Sano
We light storefronts, offices, entrances and common areas as well as homes. Commercial work is scheduled around your trading hours so the install never costs you a business day, and a larger property can be phased across several visits.
If an HOA, a landlord or a historic district has rules about fixture color, brightness or where a track may sit, bring them to the consult and we design to them from the start rather than asking for an exception later.
