How Much Does Permanent Outdoor Lighting Cost in Huntsville? JellyFish and Bosso Pricing Explained

The published numbers, and what they include
Both manufacturers put pricing guidance on their own websites, which is unusual in this industry. We quote every job after a free site visit, so the figures below are the national ranges, not our price list.
| Item | JellyFish Lighting | Bosso Smart Lighting |
|---|---|---|
| Per linear foot, installed | $25 to $35 | Not published |
| Typical home, complete | $3,000 to $6,000 | About $5,000 average |
| Average project | About $4,600 | About $5,000 |
| Controller | $650 to $850 each; one powers roughly 263 ft | Included in system; up to 8 zones per controller |
| Install time | Usually one day | Average 8 to 10 hours |
| Lead time for track | 1 to 2 weeks for color-matched track | Confirmed at quote |
A per-foot price from either brand covers the color-matched aluminum track, the lights inside it, the low-voltage wiring back to the controller, and the labor to fit and seal it. What it does not automatically include is the controller itself, a second controller if the run is long, or any electrical work to get a proper circuit to where the controller will live. Those are the line items to ask about when you compare quotes from anyone, and they are on ours before you sign.
The published ranges also leave out who comes back. Both systems carry a five-year parts warranty; JellyFish covers parts, labor and service bumper-to-bumper in year one, Bosso covers labor for one year. After that, a local installer who installs and services every system they sell matters. If a run drops out you call us, not a manufacturer's support line.
What moves the price on a Huntsville roofline
Two houses with the same square footage can land $2,000 apart. Here is what we are actually pricing when we walk a property.
Linear footage
The biggest driver by far. A front elevation on a typical two-story in Madison or Providence might run 100 to 150 feet once you follow the gable over the entry. A full perimeter on a substantial Hampton Cove home can pass 250 feet, which is where a second JellyFish controller enters the quote. We measure on site, not from an aerial photo, which never shows the porch roof that adds 30 feet.
Peaks, dormers and corners
Every place the roof changes direction is a cut, a mitered corner and a junction that has to be squared so the track disappears in daylight. A simple ranch front in Meridianville with one straight fascia line is quick. A newer Harvest build with three gables and a dormer over the garage takes longer per foot and uses more track for the same street width.
Height and access
Madison's rooflines are simple, but a gable over the entry usually puts the top run past ladder height, and tight subdivision lots mean lift placement has to be planned. On Monte Sano the wooded, steep ground is the constraint, and ridge-side lots in Hampton Cove drop away at the back so a rear run sits higher than the front suggests. Height changes crew time more than product cost.
Track color and trim
The track is color-matched to your fascia. Standard colors ship faster; a custom match to a painted Old Town cornice may add lead time but rarely adds much to the price.
Controllers and power
One JellyFish controller powers roughly 263 feet and a system can expand to 2,400 feet. Bosso's controller handles up to eight zones, and an account can run up to four controllers. Either way the controller needs a proper circuit, usually in the garage, and a sensible wiring path from the roofline to it. On the acreage lots around Owens Cross Roads, getting rated power to where it needs to go is often the real variable, not the track.
Front elevation only, or the full perimeter?
This is the choice that most changes the number. Most Huntsville customers start with the elevations you see from the street, the front plus whichever side faces the approach, which keeps a typical home inside the $3,000 to $6,000 range.
A full perimeter makes sense in a few local situations: on Monte Sano, where the house is read from the valley, the back of the house is the display; on corner lots in Providence or Clift Farm two elevations are public; and on the ridge-side lots in Hampton Cove a lit rear roofline over the golf course is the point. Expect a full perimeter on a large home to run past the typical range and need a second controller.
What is the average cost of permanent outdoor lighting?
Nationally the average sits around $4,600 for JellyFish and about $5,000 for Bosso. Locally the spread is wider because our housing is. The examples below apply the published JellyFish per-foot range to footages we have chosen to illustrate common Huntsville house types; they are assumptions, not measurements of any specific house, and your quote comes from your roofline.
| House type (illustrative) | Assumed footage | At $25 to $35 per ft | Controllers | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1970s brick ranch, Meridianville, front fascia only | 80 ft | $2,000 to $2,800 | 1 | Shallow fascia may favor one system over the other; decided on site |
| Two-story with entry gable, Madison, front only | 130 ft | $3,250 to $4,550 | 1 | Top run past ladder height; lift access planned |
| Two-story, Providence, front plus one side | 190 ft | $4,750 to $6,650 | 1 | Corner lot, two public elevations |
| Large single-family, Hampton Cove, full perimeter | 290 ft | $7,250 to $10,150 | 2 | Second controller; rear run higher on ridge lots |
Add $650 to $850 per controller where a quote lists it separately. Bosso jobs on the same rooflines usually land in a similar band because the drivers are the same; the difference between the two on a given house is fit more than price, covered in JellyFish vs Bosso for Huntsville homes.
How much does JellyFish Lighting cost per foot?
$25 to $35 per linear foot installed, per JellyFish Lighting. The low end is straight, reachable fascia on a standard track color; the high end is more corners, more height and more custom work. Controllers are $650 to $850 on top, one per roughly 263 feet.
How much does Bosso lighting cost per foot?
Bosso publishes an average customer spend of about $5,000 rather than a per-foot rate. In practice the same roofline factors apply, so if you have a JellyFish quote for your house you have a reasonable idea of where a Bosso quote will land. We bring both to the consult and tell you which fits, including when that is the cheaper one.
The five-year math against seasonal lighting
The honest comparison is roofline against roofline. Typical turnkey seasonal programs in this industry run $2.50 to $8 per linear foot per season, with a basic roofline-only front around $700 to $1,500 a year and renewal years somewhat lower than year one. A permanent system at $3,000 to $6,000 is therefore roughly four to six seasons of roofline-only seasonal lighting, and after that the seasonal bill keeps coming while the permanent one does not.
Running cost is small either way: a full-bright JellyFish light draws under one watt, a Bosso light 0.96 watts, and Bosso notes a 250-light system pulls about what five ordinary bulbs do.
Where seasonal still wins is anything that is not the roofline. If your display is really the oaks in the front yard, wreaths on every window and garland on the porch rail, a permanent track replaces none of it. Plenty of customers run both: a track for everyday white and roofline color, and a seasonal package for trees and grounds. The full comparison is in what Christmas light installation costs in Huntsville.
How the quote works
You book a free consult. We walk the property, measure the roofline, look at the fascia, drip edge and gutter, check where the controller and power can live, and show you where the run will sit and how it reads from the street. If your roofline suits one system better, we say so.
You get one number, and it is the number. Nothing is ordered until you approve it, and anything on site that would change it you hear at the consult, not on the invoice. Custom track takes one to two weeks to arrive, most installs finish in a day, and we configure the app with you before we leave. Ask about payment options at the consult if that matters to your timing.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average cost of permanent outdoor lighting?
JellyFish Lighting publishes national guidance of $25 to $35 per linear foot installed, with typical homes landing between $3,000 and $6,000 and an average around $4,600. Bosso Smart Lighting says its average customer spends about $5,000. Your Huntsville number depends on linear footage, roof height, how many corners and peaks the run turns, and how many controllers the footage needs.
How much does JellyFish Lighting cost per foot?
The manufacturer's published range is $25 to $35 per linear foot installed, which includes the track, the lights, the wiring and the labor. Controllers are priced separately at $650 to $850 each, and one controller powers roughly 263 feet, so a large perimeter run may need a second.
How much does Bosso lighting cost per foot?
Bosso does not publish a per-foot figure. The manufacturer states that an average customer spends about $5,000 for a complete installed system. Because Bosso and JellyFish are priced on the same drivers, footage, height, corners and controllers, a Huntsville quote for either usually lands in a similar range for the same roofline.
Is permanent outdoor lighting worth the cost compared to seasonal lights?
For a roofline-only display, a permanent system priced at $3,000 to $6,000 is roughly what four to six years of a typical seasonal roofline lease costs, and it runs every night of the year rather than five weeks in December. If most of what you want lit is trees, shrubs and wreaths, seasonal remains the better value because a permanent track only lights the roofline.
Does New Age Lights offer financing on permanent lighting?
Ask about payment options at the consult. What we can promise is that the design consult and the quote are free, the quote is fixed before anything is ordered, and there are no charges added on install day for things that should have been seen at the site visit.
How long does a permanent lighting install take in Huntsville?
Most homes are done in a day. Our crews complete about 150 linear feet per day, so a typical front elevation is a single visit and a full perimeter on a large Hampton Cove home may run to two. Custom color-matched track takes one to two weeks to arrive after you approve the quote, so allow about three weeks from consult to lights on.
